A generator Leadman serves as the engineering leader for assigned generator upgrade projects planning and monitoring activities to fulfill project scope within established timeframes and quality standards. This role provides technical leadership and interfaces with the Proposals Team Project Manager Customers GE Product Engineering Sourcing and Engineering sub-contractors.
The leadman leads high-impact generator upgrade projects within the organization and supports initiatives for improvements and team development. This individual is recognized for their technical expertise working with generators or other power generation fields.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Own risk management and risk mitigations by supporting the team in all ongoing projects. Develop processes to monitor and control risk within projects in execution.
- Continuously improve processes and tools to enhance the efficiency of the generator upgrades team. A mindset of continuous improvement is essential.
- Monitor and improve the productivity of generator upgrade projects. Ensure opportunities for margin and track project costs and metrics across the Generator upgrade project portfolio.
- Be accountable for leading the technical development of the project team contributing to the teams technical and process skill matrix.
- Support to quote and create Purchase Requisition for parts materials and consumables for ongoing projects
- Assume the project management role for generator upgrades:
- Manage a cross-functional team.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to GEs internal teams.
- Review customer specifications and communicate project requirements to all design functions using internal documentation systems.
- Evaluate impact of customer-requested scope changes.
- Provide technical support to sourcing vendors and installation teams to ensure equipment meets all customer requirements and business objectives.
- Enforce quality procedures and participate in their improvement.
- Ensure risk management tracking implement risk mitigation strategies and escalate issues as needed.
- Elaborate Daily reports support to create and fill out all the engineering standard and quality documents.
- Perform electrical test according to Standard plan.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited college or university plus 2 years of experience in Generator Power Generation Operation or Generator-related activities; or a High School Diploma / GED and 10 years of relevant Generator work experience.
- Site manufacturing or design experience with generators.
- Project management experience in complex manufacturing projects.
- Background in continuous improvement developing methods tools and processes.
