At PTA Plastics we are seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team and support continuous improvement initiatives within our plastics manufacturing operations. This internship offers hands-on experience in process optimization problem-solving and lean manufacturing principles while working closely with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidates are detail-oriented analytical thinkers with passion for identifying inefficiencies and drive sustainable solutions. Essential Duties/ResponsibilitiesAnalyze current manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies bottlenecks and areas for improvement. Assist in data collection process mapping and root cause analysis to develop actionable insights. Support development and implementation of process improvements using lean Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies. Collaborate with engineering production and quality teams to ensure optimized workflows and reduce wage. Develop and present an action plan for process enhancements outlining objectives key metrics and effectiveness. Document process modifications and create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for improved in hands-on problem-solving in areas such as material handling machine settings and tooling adjustments. Prepare reports and presentations on project findings and recommendations for leadership review. QualificationsCurrently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Industrial Manufacturing or Computer Science (or related fields).Rising Junior or analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends. Experience with CAD problem-solving and communication interest in experiencing an industry with impacts on everyday life. Be available to commit to the full duration of the internship. Hands-on mindset with a willingness to work on the production in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel PowerPoint Word).
