Job Duties

About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Office Services Specialist at the Division V Headquarters in Suffolk Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:

Performs general administrative office activities such as compiling tracking data and due dates filing electronically numerically and alphabetically.
Performs initial intake for Virginia Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests as received through NextRequest.
Serve as the Share Point Coordinator.
Serve as backup Receptionist.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge:

Of general office and clerical practices and procedures.
Of office equipment.
Of standard English grammar spelling punctuation and usage.

Skills:

In operating computers.
In using Microsoft Office applications.

Abilities:

To maintain files records and rosters.
To draft correspondence and documents.
To enter delete retrieve manipulate and correct information in databases and/or electronic records.
To analyze records/documents.
To communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
To read and comprehend Departmental administrative policies and procedures.
To redact sensitive numerical and written information within records independently or as instructed.
To interpret and follow oral and written instructions in performing tasks.
To work independently and as a member of a team.
To maintain harmonious working relationships with internal and external customers.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Administrative and general office clerical experience is required.

Additional Considerations

Experience reviewing and tracking Freedom of Information Act requests preferred.
