UCF TRIO Programs are federally funded student success initiatives designed to support firstgeneration lowincome students and students with disabilities as they navigate their academic journey. Project BEST which stands for Building Exemplary Scholars for Tomorrow is one of UCFs TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) programs. The program provides oneonone academic coaching financial literacy education graduate school preparation leadership development and personalized success planning for eligible undergraduate students. Project BEST offers a supportive community and tailored resources that help students strengthen their academic performance connect with campus opportunities and achieve their longterm goals. The Opportunity:
As an Academic Support Coordinator II with TRIO Student Support Services you will play a key role in helping students make steady progress toward their academic goals. This is a full-time role that provides continuous year-round support to the program. The position provides personalized academic guidance mentoring hands-on coaching proactive outreach and general student support. Working closely with the Program Manager you will assist students as they navigate academic and personal challenges build essential skills and stay on track toward graduation. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through direct student engagement and the development of effective support strategies.
This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the recruitment orientation/interviews and intake of the required number of students approved by the Department of Education in order to meet the program goals and objectives.
Provide required and selected permissible services for the targeted population in the areas of academic advice and career personal advising and coaching. Builds solid and trusting advising relationships with new and continuing scholars.
Tracks Student Support Services (SSS) students academic advising and participation requirements; assists participants with course selection to meet graduation requirements and develops/monitors Individual Academic Plans (IAPs).
Maintains appropriate and accurate student records; maintains contacts in Blumen database.
Facilitates the delivery of required program services. Tracks and documents student participation in project services.
Analyzes data generates and disseminates periodic reports and participates in program assessment.
Supervises and evaluates the Academic Coaches. Oversees and participates in occasional overnight and off-campus trips with participants.
Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or Executive Director TRIO Programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree and 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree.
2 years of experience in managing an academic caseload including documentation of records communication with students and making appropriate referrals.
Program development experience related to advising student support and/or career planning.
Experience with TRIO or other federally funded academic access programs.
Experience in Higher Education.
Demonstrated ability to work with first-generation at-risk and low-income college students.
Excellent organizational written and oral communication skills.
