Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides support to the UH campuses in their use of the Banner Student Information System.
  • Analyzes and configures Banner Student Information System tables and settings to meet the needs of UH campuses including changes made to the tables to comply with new campus policies and practices.
  • Assist with transition needs to eBanner for all UH campuses.
  • Analyzes capabilities of the Banner Student Information system and maps those capabilities.
  • Researches data trends and runs reports on enrollment student academic progress and department services to help drive policy.
  • Writes technical reports to summarize data.
  • Collaborates with software developers and others on upgrades and modifications of the Banner Student Information System.
  • Works in collaboration with programmers system administrators and other IT positions in developing system modifications to align with Federal rules and Banner product level changes.
  • Provides input to system developers on specifications.
  • Provides technical support to student services personnel regarding use of the Banner Student Information System.
  • Provides day-to-day system maintenance troubleshooting for issues related to admissions registration student data and handles user inquiries.
  • Develops documentation on use of the Banner Student Information System for faculty and student services personnel.
  • Develops and/or offers training on use of the Banner Student Information System to student services personnel.
  • Tests and verifies components of the Banner System at UH including modifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Instructional Technology Information Technology Computer Science or related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for instructional technology solutions; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Experience in providing technical support to student services personnel on the use of the Banner Student Information System.
  3. Ability to provide day-to-day system maintenance and troubleshoot issues related to admissions registration and student data.
  4. Experience with user inquiry support.
  5. Ability to analyze and configure Banner Student Information System tables and settings
  6. Demonstrated written and verbal competence in presenting ideas concepts and models clearly using persuasion and negotiation to build consensus and cooperation.
Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Experience supporting campuses in their use of the Banner Student Information System specifically for distance-delivered courses and programs.
  2. Thorough knowledge of troubleshooting procedures for hardware software and networks.
  3. Experience collaborating with software developers on upgrades and modifications to the Banner Student Information System.
  4. Experience working with programmers and system administrators to develop system modifications that align with federal rules and Banner product-level changes.
  5. Experience providing input to system developers on specifications.
  6. Ability to develop documentation and/or training on the use of the Banner Student Information System for faculty and student services personnel.
  7. Experience with testing and verifying components of the Banner System including modifications.
