CLASS TITLE: Designated Substitute Teacher CLASS CODE: 4099
REPORTS TO: Principal/Designee EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt
BASIC FUNCTION:
Provide classroom instruction and support across Pre-K through Grade 12 in the regular teachers absence. Ensure continuity of learning by adapting to a wide range of subjects and age groups maintaining classroom routines and supporting the schools mission and culture.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Deliver instruction and manage classrooms during short- and long-term teacher absences
- Support daily instruction or assist other teachers when coverage is not required
- Collaborate with teaching staff to align with grade-level planning expectations and assessments
- Supervise students during breaks and assist in extracurricular and co-curricular activities
- Communicate with parents staff and administrators regarding student progress and concerns
- Maintain accurate attendance behavior and assessment records
- Participate in staff meetings professional development and school events
- Adapt quickly to changing teaching assignments and improvise in emergency situations
- Demonstrate punctuality professionalism appropriate appearance and consistent reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to build rapport with students parents and colleagues
- Comfortable supervising and supporting extracurricular activities
- Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to school culture
- Skilled in differentiated instruction collaborative learning and student engagement
- Able to handle transitions with minimal preparation and maintain instructional continuity
- Requires speech vision and hearing capabilities
- Work involves both indoor and occasional outdoor activity
- Stand & move for extended periods; lift push pull carry etc. up to 25 lbs. repetitively; kneel crouch sit etc.
- Use technology including computers interactive whiteboards audio-visual equipment etc.
- Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics and follow all board and school policies

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 64 college semester hours with a 2.5 GPA
- Current teaching certification preferred
