Job Summary
A thriving and well-regarded primary school in Durham is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join its premises team as soon as possible.

The Role
As Caretaker you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the school site. You will ensure the buildings and grounds are well maintained and compliant with health & safety standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Opening and closing the school site daily
Carrying out routine maintenance minor repairs and general DIY tasks
Conducting regular health & safety checks including fire alarms and site inspections
Ensuring the premises and outdoor areas are clean safe and secure
Supporting contractors and overseeing works on site
Assisting with deliveries and setting up for school events
You will work closely with the Headteacher and leadership team to maintain a high standard of site management.

The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience in a caretaker site assistant or maintenance role (school experience desirable)
Good practical DIY and maintenance skills
Understanding of basic health & safety procedures
Reliable organised and able to work independently
A proactive and professional approach
