About the Opportunity
Our client a well-established and growing organization in the construction materials and contracting industry is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support its California operations.
This is a high-impact hands-on role supporting a unionized workforce in a fast-paced operational environment. You will play a key role in driving employee engagement ensuring compliance with California employment law and supporting business expansion initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Employee Relations

Support day-to-day HR functions including employee files reviews surveys and compensation administration
-
Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on policies benefits and employee relations matters

Investigate workplace concerns while maintaining strict confidentiality
California Compliance & Labor Relations
-
Ensure compliance with federal state and local employment laws
-
Support reporting requirements (EEO-1 VETS and related filings)
-
Partner with leadership in a unionized environment supporting collective bargaining agreement administration
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
HR Systems & Process Improvement

Utilize HRIS and ERP systems to maintain data accuracy
-
Contribute to HR process improvements and operational efficiency
-
Assist with acquisition integration and expansion efforts
Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications
-
Associate degree or equivalent HR experience
-
5 years of Human Resources experience
-
Experience within construction or construction materials environments
-
Strong knowledge of California employment laws and compliance regulations
-
Experience supporting unionized workforces and collective bargaining agreements
-
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR systems
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree in HR Business or related field

Bilingual English/Spanish
-
Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP PHR SHRM-SCP SPHR or California-specific certification)

Experience with HRIS/ERP systems

Experience supporting acquisitions or organizational growth initiatives
