Our Summer Internship Program

This internship is in-person at our Arlington VA office running from June 1st to August 6th. It is Part-Time (28 hrs/week) each Monday through Thursday from 9:00am-5:00pm.

Job Summary

The GIS Intern will support the GIS department in various projects and processes involving spatial databases and cartographic illustrations. They will report to our GIS Manager.

Responsibilities

- Collect and standardize shapefiles at various political geographies

- Assist in quality assurance projects addressing data fixes and geocode updates

- Research and prepare information on federal state and local elections

- Assist with preparing data for visualizations using ArcGIS Pro

- Assist the GIS Department with other spatial related projects and tasks

Skills

- Gain an understanding of how GIS integrates into politics and data

- Use SQL and Excel to work comfortably with large datasets

- Conduct research to acquire information for ad hoc projects

- Apply political knowledge to data-centric projects

Qualifications

- Current student in a Bachelors program in Geography GIS Political Science or similar field

- Completed some coursework in GIS using ArcGIS Pro

- Strong desire to learn and develop SQL skills

- Proficient with Microsoft Excel

- Familiarity with political geography US Census geography and elections

- Interest in Republican political campaigns and elections
