Responsibilities
Analyze and optimize slow or inefficient SQL and NoSQL queries across legacy systems.
Profile and tune MySQL and Cassandra clusters for high throughput and low latency.
Work closely with application teams to modernize schema designs and improve access patterns.
Design database optimization strategies aligned with microservices distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
Collaborate with architects and DevOps engineers to support database migration plans to AWS.
Implement observability and metrics around database performance availability and errors.
Contribute to defining the modernization roadmap including the potential use of cloud-native databases or managed services.
Ensure security and data governance compliance with PCI DSS and ISO 27001 standards.
Qualifications
5 years of hands-on experience as a Database Engineer DBA or Performance Engineer.
Strong experience with MySQL and Cassandra in high-traffic or distributed environments.
Expertise in query profiling execution plans and indexing strategies.
Strong understanding of database internals clustering and replication.
Comfortable working in Linux environments with experience troubleshooting at the OS and DB level.
Familiarity with cloud migration strategies and AWS RDS / Aurora / DynamoDB / OpenSearch is a plus.
Experience working with large legacy databases and designing incremental modernization plans.
Knowledge of data security masking encryption and compliance best practices.
