Job Summary
The Quality NPI Technician at Jabil Inc. plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of new product introductions (NPIs). This position supports the NPI team by performing various quality assurance activities inspecting products and processes and contributing to the successful launch of new manufacturing lines and products.
Job Responsibilities
* Execute first article inspections (FAI) in-process inspections and final inspections for NPI builds according to engineering specifications and quality standards.
* Assist in the development and implementation of quality control plans and inspection procedures for new products and processes.
* Collaborate with engineering manufacturing and supply chain teams to identify and resolve quality issues during the NPI phase.
* Perform root cause analysis on non-conforming materials or products and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
* Collect and analyze quality data generate reports and present findings to NPI teams and management.
* Participate in process validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) for new equipment and manufacturing processes.
* Train manufacturing personnel on new inspection techniques and quality requirements for NPIs.
* Maintain accurate quality records and documentation in accordance with Jabils quality management system.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives within the NPI quality function.
Job Qualifications
* Associates degree in a technical field (e.g. Electronics Manufacturing Technology Quality Assurance) or equivalent practical experience.
* 2 years of experience in a quality assurance or manufacturing technician role preferably within an NPI or high-volume manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings blueprints and specifications (e.g. GD&T).
* Experience with various inspection tools and methodologies (e.g. calipers micrometers CMM optical comparators).
* Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9001 AS9100 ISO 13485).
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Under the direction of Quality Assurance support new product introduction (NPI) projects by ensuring quality efficiency and compliance with standards.
What will you do
Incoming material inspection: Perform inspections and measurements on incoming electronic components (such as PCBs and PCBAs) and mechanical components to ensure they meet engineering specifications.
First-Article Inspection (FAI): Play a key role in the first-article inspection process verifying that new product builds meet design specifications.
Quality Control & Documentation: Help develop and maintain quality control plans inspection protocols and relevant documentation for internal assembly and inspection processes.
Non-conformance management: Identify and document defects manage non-conforming reports and coordinate with engineering to initiate corrective actions.
Problem-solving and root cause analysis: Investigate quality issues to determine the root cause using standard methodologies like 8D or 5 Whys to drive continuous improvement and reduce future quality defects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support product certification and release for new products.
Assist with quality assurance activities for NPI such as process validation risk assessment and product release.
Coordinate customer complaint investigations related to NPI products.
Lead quality issue resolution nonconformance investigations and support product disposition.
Assist in quality audits.
Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to meet NPI quality goals.
Manage QA holds inventory and documentation related to new products.
Perform statistical analyses to support quality control.
Maintain knowledge of relevant procedures specifications and regulations.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for NPI.
CUSTOMER SERVICE & LEADERSHIP
Provide timely communication and support for NPI projects.
Recommend improvements to testing methods and equipment.
Lead NPI quality projects and support cross-functional teamwork.
Adapt to changing conditions and escalate issues when needed.
SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT
Follow safety policies and promote a safe work environment.
Participate in Environmental Management System activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High school diploma or equivalent; ASQ or Six Sigma certifications preferred.
Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality or manufacturing environment ideally within electronics manufacturing or a regulated industry.
Knowledge Skills Abilities
Ability to interpret engineering drawings specifications and use inspection tools and equipment.
Preferred qualifications
Electronics and manufacturing: A solid understanding of electronics fundamentals Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) mechanical assembly and general manufacturing processes are essential.
Quality standards and systems: Familiarity with international quality standards.
IPC Standards: Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033 for electronic assemblies and handling moisture-sensitive components.
ISO 9001: Working knowledge of ISO quality management systems.
Professional certifications such as an ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or IPC certification can be a significant advantage.
