Overview of the Position:
The Health Occupations teacher is responsible for providing instruction on a wide range of health related courses including health careers medical terminology First Aid/CPR health certificate programs and dual enrollment courses so that students develop the skills and knowledge related to employment in health careers. Health occupations pathways provide students with classroom instruction and hands-on experiences in various aspects of the medical field.
Responsibilities Include:.
- Facilitate and instruct CTE Health Occupations courses.
- Recruit prospective students promote the CTE program and Riverside HS.
- Collaborate with department school staff district and community stakeholders.
- Support and coordinate partnerships with local community colleges regional partners and trade professionals for work experience apprenticeship and employment.
- Coordinate the placement supervision and evaluation of students on work-based experience sites in the community.
- Maintain an active Health Occupations trades advisory committee.
- Serve as an advisor for the Health Occupations student leadership organization.
- Plan for the instructional needs of all students and attend to the diverse needs of individuals while holding high-expectations for all students.
- Develop curriculum lessons assessments and provide instruction using statewide guidelines for Career Technical Education that promotes all skill development knowledge and reasoning.
- Ability to create a student-centered classroom.
- Model and teach respect with an emphasis on inclusion and an awareness of diversity.
- Interest in becoming involved in the whole RHS community and participating in school-wide committees and activities.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree required.
- At least 3 years of Health Occupations experience is required.
- Qualified to successfully activate an OR CTE teaching license or add CTE endorsement to an existing OR teaching license required.
- Prior teaching/mentoring experience preferred.
- Licensed nurse preferred.
