About the Role
Safehands Home Health Care & Hospice is seeking a compassionate organized and purpose-drivenHospice Volunteer Coordinator to lead and grow our volunteer services program across Wayne County. This role is central to strengthening the emotional social and practical support we provide to patients and families during their hospice journey.
As a key member of the interdisciplinary hospice care team the Volunteer Coordinator will manage the full lifecycle of volunteer services including recruitment training care coordination supervision and compliance ensuring that every volunteer interaction reflects our commitment to dignity compassion respect and excellence in care.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about community service hospice philosophy and building meaningful volunteer programs that truly change lives.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment & Development
Recruit onboard and train hospice and supportive care volunteers.
Develop and maintain structured volunteer orientation and training programs.
Keep volunteer training manuals policies and educational resources current and compliant.
Care Planning & Service Coordination
Assess volunteer service needs in collaboration with patients families/caregivers and the hospice care team.
Establish implement and monitor individualized volunteer plans of care.
Coordinate volunteer scheduling for patient support administrative assistance and departmental services.
Supervision & Performance Management
Supervise support and evaluate volunteer performance with professionalism and compassion.
Provide mentorship guidance and development opportunities for volunteers.
Ensure ethical conduct professionalism and alignment with hospice philosophy at all times.
Administration Compliance & Quality
Maintain accurate confidential and up-to-date volunteer personnel files.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies regulatory standards and hospice care guidelines.
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives related to volunteer services.
Communication & Community Engagement
Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
Serve as a community liaison by educating individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
Coordinate volunteer support groups education sessions and recognition activities.
QualificationsQualifications & Requirements
- Compassionate dependable and committed to serving individuals facing end-of-life care.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to complete required orientation and training.
- Ability to work respectfully within a team-oriented hospice environment.
