Job Summary

Position Summary

The Lead Summer Mentor / Tutor Counselor provides supervision and coordination for Upward Bound summer tutor mentors and supports daily program operations. This role focuses on mentor leadership communication and program implementation to ensure a safe organized and engaging summer experience for participating high school students.

The hourly pay rate is $20

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in staff orientation. Full participation is a condition of employment.

  • Supervise Upward Bound tutor mentors during daily summer programming.

  • Conduct regular check-ins and weekly meetings with tutor mentors.

  • Provide guidance coordination and support to undergraduate mentor staff.

  • Monitor mentor attendance engagement and responsibilities.

  • Support planning and onsite supervision of field trips workshops and special events.

  • Assist with program setup transitions and daily operations as needed.

  • Communicate regularly with Upward Bound staff and administrative leadership.

  • Enforce Upward Bound expectations policies and safety procedures.

  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by Upward Bound leadership.

Qualifications

  • Upper class college students or graduate students preferred.

  • Experience working with high school students in tutoring mentoring or youth programs.

  • Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to supervise and support a group of college student mentors.

  • Commitment to supporting low-income and first-generation students.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced summer program environment.

  • Familiarity with Upward Bound and/or TRIO programs is a plus.

Pay Range Disclosure
