Summary
With a commitment to patient and family centered care the Safety Associate works collaboratively with the health care team to provide safety companionship and supportive care for patients who require additional monitoring or assistance. Promotes quality patient care comfort and a safe environment under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Job Duties

• Interacts with co-workers visitors and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.(Do not delete move or over-write this statement)
• Recognizes the patients their family/designated care partner(s) in providing safe compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patients personal preferences priorities needs and cultural beliefs and values.
• Communicates with and supports the interprofessional team patient family and designated care partners.
• Provides on-to-one direct observation for safety of assigned patient.
• Assists patient with designated care activities.
• Reports observations of changes in patient condition or behavior to appropriate staff.
• Completes required reports and documentation
• This position requires providing service to the following age population(s) pediatric through frail elderly in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.
• May be assigned to the role of virtual safety associates based on campus needs

Minimum Qualifications

• Interpersonal Relationships - Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
• Patient Rights - Knowledge of principles and practices associated with the rights and responsibilities of patients and caregivers.
• Health Information Documentation - Knowledge of the relevance of health information and appropriate documentation methods ability to record medical histories symptoms vital signs medications diagnoses treatment plans procedures tests and medical results in written or electronic form.
• Patient Safety - Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks.
• Life Support - Knowledge of the process taken to restore and maintain essential physiological functions and the ability to apply these processes in a patient care situation.
• Accuracy and Attention to Detail - Understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
