Job Description:
A Safety Supervisorensures a safe compliant workplace by enforcing health and safety regulations conducting risk assessments and training employees. They identify hazards investigate incidents and foster a proactive safety culture through inspections and tool box talks. Key duties include monitoring PPE compliance and maintaining safety documentation.
Core Responsibilities
- Safety Training & Education:Conducts orientations specialized safety training and daily tool box talks to educate staff on hazards and procedures.
- Inspections & Monitoring:Performs regular site audits inspections and spot checks to identify and correct unsafe practices equipment or conditions.
- Incident Investigation:Investigates workplace accidents near-misses and injuries to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Compliance & Documentation:Ensures adherence to OSHA EPA and company-specific health and safety regulations. Maintains accurate records of inspections training and incidents.
- Emergency Response:Activates emergency protocols assists in evacuations and liaises with emergency services.
- Hazard Mitigation:Develops and implements risk control measures (engineering controls PPE) to reduce hazards.
Key Requirements & Skills
- Knowledge:Deep understanding of safety regulations (e.g. OSHA HAZMAT) and industry-specific hazards.
- Leadership:Ability to foster a safety-first culture and enforce policies sometimes in high-risk environments.
- Communication:Strong communication skills for training reporting and and providing feedback.
- Analytical Thinking:Ability to identify hazards analyze incident data and create effective actionable solutions.
- Certification:Often requires certifications such as CSM (Certified Safety Manager) OSHA 10/30-Hour or specialized training (e.g. H2S First Aid).
