Docplanner is fostering the reinvention of product development specifically transforming how we approach coding with AI. We are looking for an Engineering Director who will lead this transformation from the front lines while owning the Patient Engagement area.
This isnt a traditional management role. Its designed for a leader who remains deeply hands-on in the code and pioneers AI-enabled development practices with the role intentionally weighted toward Lead Through Code (75%) and Drive Transformation & Technical Leadership (25%).
You will be a driver of our AI-powered product development transformation working directly with code teams and the wider Engineering community to fundamentally reimagine how we build patient-facing software. This role is for someone who thrives on being deeply technical while driving organizational change through example influence and results as we reinvent the very nature of coding itself.
The scope is meaningful: Patient Engagement initiatives that directly impact how people interact with their healthcare focusing on engagement retention and continuity of care. These arent just features; theyre tools that help real people better manage their health.
What Success Looks Like in 6 Months
- Your teams operate in a new AI-enabled development paradigm with measurably faster delivery and higher quality
- Youve established unified AI-enabled development workflows that are being adopted beyond your direct area
- Patient Engagement teams are delivering tangible improvements in engagement retention and continuity
- Team engagement is demonstrably higher with clear measurable improvements in development velocity quality and impact
- You are recognized as a trusted technical partner in shaping how AI-enabled development works in practice

What Youll Do
Lead Through Code (75% hands-on)
- Solve real patient engagement and continuity challenges through hands-on coding using cutting-edge AI development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot ChatGPT Claude) to demonstrate new possibilities
- Prototype and build solutions that showcase AI-enabled development practices in patient-facing products
- Work directly in your teams codebases not just reviewing but implementing features and architectural changes
- Experiment with and establish AI-powered development workflows then teach others through direct hands-on demonstration
Drive Transformation & Technical Leadership (25%)
- Pioneer new AI-enabled development cycles and practices within the Patient Engagement area then scale successful approaches across engineering
- Influence developers and the wider Engineering community through results and partnership enabling teams to adapt to AI-enabled ways of working and better leverage their skills
- Partner closely with Product and Design to solve real patient problems end to end
- Measure and communicate the impact of new approaches using concrete metrics (delivery speed quality developer satisfaction product impact)
Qualifications :
In a sentence: someone who can code the future while being passionate about delivering real impact to users (patients in this case) and inspiring others to follow.
- Youre already experimenting with AI tools in your daily work with strong judgment on when to rely on AI versus traditional approaches
- Youve been in the trenches of complex software delivery including regulated environments where quality and reliability matter
- People naturally follow your technical lead because you consistently deliver results and raise the bar for those around you
- You thrive in ambiguity and enjoy being the first to try something new figure out what works and help others navigate the same path
- You genuinely enjoy teaching and mentoring whether through pairing retrospectives or helping others level up
