Job Summary

About the role
The Senior Operations Director will lead a high-volume semiconductor Assembly and Final Test factory. You will be responsible for the strategic and tactical management of a multi-disciplinary large size organization. This role demands a powerhouse leader who integrates Engineering Manufacturing and New Product Introduction (NPI) to deliver world-class operational excellence.


What you will do

1. Operational Excellence & KPI Management

  • Performance Metrics: Drive and exceed factory KPIs including Unit Cost Quality (DPPM/Excursion control) Productivity (UPPH) and Yield.
  • Resource Optimization: Maximize equipment OEE and optimize DL/IDL ratios to ensure lean cost-competitive operations.
  • Strategic Execution: Define and implement a clear operational roadmap to ensure flawless execution of the factorys long-term goals.

2. Technical Leadership & Engineering

  • Process Mastery: Provide technical oversight for complex Assembly and Test processes ensuring equipment stability and process capability.
  • Data-Driven Culture: Champion a culture of high-level statistical analysis. Use data to identify bottlenecks and drive systemic improvements.
  • Problem Solving: Lead structured and systemic root-cause analysis (e.g. 8D Fishbone DOE) for high-stakes technical or operational challenges.

3. NPI & Product Development

  • Manufacturability: Partner with R&D and Global Business Groups to develop products that are stable high-yielding and cost-optimized from day one.
  • Process Capability: Ensure all new products demonstrate robust Cpk and meet stringent quality standards before high-volume manufacturing (HVM) ramp.

4. Stakeholder & People Management

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary bridge between the factory and external entities (Business Groups Global Quality Opex HR Finance and Facilities).
  • Talent Pipeline: Directly oversee the development of the leadership team; mentor high-potential talent to ensure organizational sustainability.
  • Workforce Leadership: Manage a large-scale workforce of 4000 fostering a culture of accountability safety and continuous improvement.

What you will need

  • Education: Bachelors or Masters Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Electrical Microelectronics) or a related technical field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience managing large-scale operations in Semiconductor Backend (Assembly & Test).
  • Proven track record of managing organizations with thousands of employees.
  • Technical Skills: Deep expertise in Assembly equipment backend processes and manufacturing systems.
  • Advanced mastery of statistical analytical tools and data-driven decision-making.
  • Leadership Qualities: The ability to drive change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to influence global stakeholders.
  • Strong structured and systemic problem-solving mindset.
  • Proven success in managing massive HVM (High Volume Manufacturing) ramps.
