Position Summary
Bishop Ireton High School seeks a dynamic and faith-filled Theology Teacher committed to Catholic education and dedicated to forming students intellectually and spiritually. The Theology Teacher will teach courses within the Theology curriculum while supporting the broader spiritual life of the school through collaboration with Campus Ministry and participation in liturgical and service programs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach multiple sections of high school Theology courses aligned with diocesan curriculum standards
- Integrate Catholic teaching Scripture tradition and moral theology into classroom instruction
- Foster a classroom environment rooted in respect inquiry faith formation and academic excellence
- Support student spiritual growth and encourage active participation in the sacramental life of the Church
- Collaborate with Campus Ministry initiatives
- Serve as advisor or moderator for student activities as assigned
- Communicate effectively with students parents and colleagues
- Participate fully in faculty responsibilities including meetings supervision and professional development
- Model Gospel values and the Salesian spirit in relationships with students and colleagues
Qualifications
- Possess a bachelors degree in Theology; masters degree preferred
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church who supports and promotes the Catholic mission of the school
- Knowledge of Catholic doctrine and Church teaching appropriate for secondary education
- Teaching experience at the secondary level preferred
- Ability to engage students through creative and student-centered pedagogy
- Eligible for or willing to obtain Virginia teaching licensure or VCEA certification
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaborative skills
- Willingness to complete diocesan background checks and Virtus training
Preferred Qualities
- Experience with retreat leadership or youth ministry
- Ability to connect theology to contemporary student life and social justice themes
- Desire to contribute to a vibrant Catholic school community
