POSITION FUNCTION
Operate a variety of construction related power equipment and vehicles.
Assist with entry level tasks related to construction and maintenance of asphalt and concrete road surfaces such as preparing cuts prior to basing pouring of concrete and ensuring road edges are clean; prepare job sites; shovel gravel and base materials; assist in levelling asphalt provide blocks and wedges to Leadhand in order to set castings. Padman for excavation equipment.
Operates various equipment such as breaker cracksealer vibratory tamper jackhammer compactor cut-off saw cart saw air compressor power-washer and coring machine; operate a vehicle to transport equipment and materials.
Perform pre- and post- trip inspections by checking items such as fluid levels belts hoses and lights; perform daily inspection of power equipment; report repairs needed and damage to supervisor and mechanics shop; check first aid and safety equipment; fill out daily equipment logs.
Perform related duties where qualified.
Work is assigned and reviewed by supervisor.
Problems are referred to supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
Formal Education Training and Occupational Certification:
Grade 10.
Current and valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers Licence.
Experience:
1 year of related experience.
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER:
May be requested to substitute in a more senior position.
