Job Summary:
In this role you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a projects mechanical aspects. You will lead design development modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a projects mechanical aspects are met. You will meet with your lead prior to starting activities to discuss approach process schedule and other expectations. We currently have multiple Mechanical Engineer positions available on our Nuclear Security & Environmental projects. Potential project locations include Oak Ridge TN Richland WA Cape Canaveral FL Knoxville TN and Reston VA. Major Responsibilities:
Evaluates selects and applies standardmechanical engineering methods techniques procedures andcriteria using independent judgment in makingadaptations and modifications
Participates in the design development and modification of mechanical components andprocesses utilizingrelevant Engineering Department Procedures(EDPs) design standards and guides and BechtelStandard Application Programs (BSAPs)
Coordinates work and collaborates with otherengineering disciplines
Coordinates mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas withspecialty groups engineering disciplines the client vendorcontractors construction and other functional groups
Prepares conceptual studies designsreports or proposals
Provides technical assistance to other mechanicalpersonnel and interacts with project functionsthe customer and regulatory agency personnel inthe resolution of complex regulatory issues andindustry codes and standards
Provides assistance toproject and constructionmanagement in identifying and complying withproject mechanical requirements and in addressingissues as they arise during project execution

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a bachelors degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Must have completed a minimum of 4 years of active-duty military service in the United States Armed Forces with an honorable discharge.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen physical (if located at the construction site) and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent listening oral and written communication planning and organizational skills are essential.
Experience in fluid system design in processing facilities DOE facilities or DOD facilities preferred.
Must have or be capable of obtaining EIT or Professional Registration (PE) License in Mechanical Nuclear or Chemical Engineering within one (1) year of hire date.
