PFM Group Consulting LLC Management and Budget Consulting (MBC) helps state and local governments across the nation tackle some of their toughest fiscal and operational challenges. Representative projects include: the development of long-range financial plans for economically challenged cities and school districts; financial analysis of criminal justice system reforms; evaluation of the effectiveness of tax incentives; quantitative and analytical support for public sector collective bargaining; and operational and performance analysis for government agencies. Our Analysts are a critical part of the project teams that serve our broad base of clients. Each role provides a solid foundation for a meaningful and growth-oriented career within the firm and many of our project managers and Managing Directors started their careers with PFM.

Day-to-day challenges:

  • Operating budget analysis
  • Workforce staffing and compensation analysis
  • Revenue analysis and tax policy development
  • Benchmarking and best practices research
  • Quantitative modeling and analysis
  • Working closely with elected and appointed officials management and department staff
  • Communicating findings and recommendations to officials their constituents business or community groups and other stakeholders through written reports or public presentations

Key attributes:

  • Bachelors degree conferred by May 15 2026 with coursework in political science economics public policy and/or related areas of study
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Bilingual speaker (Spanish) preferred not required.
  • Demonstrated ability or interest in working with governments or nonprofits on financial operational and policy challenges as evidenced by prior professional experience internships or relevant academic coursework
  • Proven analytical abilities including strong quantitative skills and an interest in quantitative analysis and modeling
  • Unwavering integrity and ethics exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work with limited supervision
  • Wholly supportive of the Firms policies and commitment to diversity equity and inclusion (DEI)
  • Excellent writing ability and public presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Word Excel and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to travel for client engagements as necessary
