Job Description: Senior Manager AI Architect (Oil & Gas/ Manufacturing)

Role Overview

The Senior Manager AI Architect (Oil & Gas/ Manufacturing) will lead the strategy design and implementation of AI/MLdriven solutions for global Oil & Gas clients. This role demands a seasoned AI professional with 15 years of overall experience including 23 years of domain exposure in Oil & Gas capable of architecting enterprise scale AI platforms operationalizing advanced analytics and driving innovation across the O&G value chain.

The candidate will work closely with client stakeholders data teams and engineering groups to accelerate digital transformation using cutting-edge AI technologies.

Key Responsibilities

AI & Analytics Architecture

• Develop enterprise level AI architecture blueprints reference models and design patterns for O&G business needs.
• Architect scalable AI ecosystems leveraging cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP) MLOps frameworks and modern data platforms.
• Define solution architectures for machine learning predictive analytics generative AI computer vision NLP and optimization models.
• Design end to end AI pipelines including feature store architecture model deployment monitoring and retraining workflows.
• Ensure AI solutions incorporate standards for data security privacy lineage governance and ethical AI.

Solution Delivery & Technical Leadership

• Lead multi-disciplinary teams across AI/ML engineering data science data engineering and platform teams.
• Provide hands-on guidance in solution design modelling approach algorithm selection and model lifecycle management.
• Oversee development of robust production-grade AI systems ensuring reliability accuracy and maintainability.
• Conduct architecture reviews and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and EY methodologies.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AI into operational systems cloud-native services and digital platforms.
• Oil & Gas Domain Enablement
• Develop AI solutions addressing key O&G areas including:
• Production optimization
• Drilling efficiency & subsurface analytics
• Asset performance reliability and predictive maintenance
• Energy trading & forecasting
• Health Safety & Environment (HSE) automation
• Architect AI systems using time-series spatial geoscience IoT SCADA data.
• Leverage industry platforms such as OSDU to design domain-specific AI and analytics solutions.
• Enable clients on adoption of advanced analytics frameworks tailored to upstream midstream and downstream operations.

Client Advisory & Stakeholder Management

• Serve as a trusted advisor to CXO-level stakeholders on AI strategy capability building and transformation programs.
• Translate business challenges into scalable AI solutions and articulate value propositions clearly.
• Manage client expectations align on solution architecture decisions and drive roadmap adoption.
• Lead proposal development solutioning and thought leadership for AI transformation initiatives in Oil & Gas.

Innovation Optimization & Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to embed AI across operations value chains and digital oilfield solutions.
• Lead development of reusable accelerators frameworks and toolkits for AI delivery.
• Conduct assessments of AI maturity and create roadmaps for capability uplift modernization and innovation.
• Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies trends and regulatory considerations to continually elevate EY GDS offerings.

Required Qualifications

• 15 years of experience in AI/ML architecture advanced analytics or data science leadership roles.
• 23 years of hands-on AI experience in Oil & Gas industry (upstream/midstream/downstream).

Strong expertise in:

• ML/DL algorithms and architecture
• MLOps model deployment and lifecycle management
• Cloud-native AI frameworks (Azure ML AWS Sagemaker GCP Vertex AI)
• Enterprise data ecosystems data lakes and streaming architectures
• Experience working with IoT/SCADA systems sensor data time-series analytics and geospatial data.
• Proven ability to design and deliver large-scale AI solutions across global organizations.
• Excellent stakeholder management communication and people leadership skills.
• Experience leading distributed multi-vendor delivery teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AI for digital oilfield reservoir modelling production forecasting or predictive maintenance.
• Understanding of OSDU Data Platform and domain data models.
• Certifications in cloud platforms or AI/machine learning.
• Experience with Generative AI architectures and enterprise deployment patterns.
• Prior consulting experience in large-scale transformation programs (Big 4 background is a strong advantage).
• Familiarity with DataOps DevOps containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and microservices-based architectures.
