Description

The University of South Florida Department of Plastic Surgery Microsurgery fellowship offers a broad and well-rounded one-year microsurgical training experience. Training will occur at our two major teaching institutions Tampa General Hospital which is the regions only level one trauma center and The Moffitt Cancer. Our case variety includes breast reconstruction extremity salvage sarcoma & cutaneous cancer reconstruction maxillofacial trauma complex scalp reconstruction facial reanimation lymphatic reconstruction and gender affirming care. While microsurgical techniques are a primary focus fellows will also be able to participate in all manners of complex reconstruction to optimize their clinical decision-making capacity. Our program seeks to foster a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to patient care ensuring fellows are proficient in both clinical and academic aspects of microsurgery. The overall goal is to provide fellows with the tools and experience necessary to conquer all manners of reconstructive challenges.



Responsibilities

Direct involvement in the clinical care of patients in the clinic and operating room settings.

Active participation in the education program including conferences grand rounds journal clubs yearly microsurgery course and anatomy labs.

Publication of at least one academic peer-reviewed publication based on their research project with the goal of attending and presenting at the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery or regional meetings.



Qualifications

Must be a graduate of an approved professional degree program in the appropriate health discipline and have completed residency training within a selected area of specialization including research and/or clinical training in specialized areas.

Must be licensed or eligible for a full Florida medical license in their primary specialty and qualified to function as an attending physician.

This Advanced Fellowship training will usually follow the completion of clinical training in preparation for an academic position or subspecialty certification.

Due to the requirements of this class code holders of J-1 visa are not eligible for an appointment using this code.
