The team

The Learning and Development department (L&D) is one of the specialist areas in the Norton Rose Fulbright People and Culture function. We align our learning and development portfolio to support key objectives and initiatives to help meet the firms strategic objectives.

We provide business skills personal leadership and management development courses/programmes which are available to Partners associates business services staff and the practice support team globally. These are delivered by our in-house learning and development team in tandem with selected external suppliers. We use a variety of teaching and learning methods including presentations case studies a variety of exercises and keynote speakers from the firm to ensure that peoples different learning styles are catered for.

The training (delivered face-to-face and virtually) is designed and delivered based on acknowledged best practice and the latest thinking in management leadership business development and personal effectiveness as well as blending knowledge and understanding of the firms culture values and procedures to provide training that is relevant to the work undertaken in the firm.

The team is leading the drive for the provision of online just-in-time learning and is developing a portfolio of online courses and e-learnings.

The team also provides customised sessions working in consultation with specific individuals teams or groups such as team development sessions.

Finally we have an extensive webinar skills training offer available to clients of the firm as well as high-value leadership programmes which are available by invitation only to senior in-house lawyers of the firms key clients.

The role
The position is based in London and will report to the Senior L&D Practice Manager. The post holder will work closely with colleagues in the London and Newcastle offices and the EMEAPAC (Europe Middle East and Asia Pacific) Canada and US regions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Project management support
    • Manage allocated L&D projects programmes and sessions (virtual and classroom) by providing comprehensive support to the team
    • This includes co-ordinating activities e.g. sending out participant invitations; sending out pre-course work including setting up and sending out psychometrics; bookings rooms; organising catering; setting up and attending relevant meetings; taking clear and accurate notes; summarising key discussion points and following up on all actions
    • Engage with stakeholders (internal and external clients) to ensure each project programme or session progresses in line with agreed timelines

  • Process supplier invoices or expense claims promptly and ensure all internal records are maintained
  • Provide a discrete and confidential support service to the L&D Leadership team and L&D Managers
  • Manage diaries in Outlook: arrange meetings in different time zones sending and responding to invites resolving conflicts confirming appointments and providing managers with the relevant information/correspondence prior to each meeting
  • Proactive management of local and international business travel for L&D Managers
  • Maintain accurate electronic records e.g. logging client training in InterAction (client database) and the Learning Management System (LMS) and running reports as required
  • Ensure that work received from the document specialist is logged and saved in the document management system (Microsoft SharePoint)
  • As a matter of course update process notes to ensure that systems and procedures remain efficient and effective
  • Maintain the drive for quality continually checking and deploying the 4 eyes process
  • L&D research: as required assist the L&D Managers by researching certain training related topics
  • Prepare for and attend weekly catchups with the Senior L&D Practice Manager and catchups with L&D Managers to discuss workload and progress on projects
