Job Summary

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in to assist with the appointment of a Family Support Worker on a 4-months contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 14.32 - 18.72 per hour

Summary:

As a Family Support Worker for St. Helens MBC you will provide vital assistance to qualified social workers in protecting and supporting families subject to statutory procedures within Childrens Social Care services. You will offer intensive practical and domestic-based support to children and their families to build resilience and reduce risk. This role involves working proactively with families who may be difficult to engage ensuring that the voice of the child is at the center of all assessments and care plans. You will be a key contributor to service delivery working flexibly across the borough to provide interventions monitor progress and support Family Time (supervised contact) arrangements.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist social workers by contributing to assessments of children and young people and developing care packages tailored to their needs.
  • Work with a caseload of families on a home-visiting basis to reduce risk and build confidence using assertive methods to engage those who may be resistant.
  • Monitor family progress using established measures such as Signs of Safety and the Graded Care Profile.
  • Prepare reports for court meetings and reviews and support social care cases at court as required.
  • Contribute expertise at case conferences LAC (Looked After Children) Reviews and Family Action Meetings.

Qualification

  • A strong understanding of St. Helens Safeguarding Children Partnerships policies and procedures.

Essentials:

  • Experience in delivering practical domestic-based support to children young people and their parents or carers
  • Experience in supporting or managing supervised contact (Family Time) arrangements.
  • Commitment to keeping up-to-date with relevant information and legislation concerning childrens social care
  • A full UK driving license

Please note:

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
