Job Summary
SUMMARY:
The pharmacy technician assists the pharmacists in performing routine duties in the pharmacy; patient and department order processing inventory control drug purchasing and sterile/non-sterile compounding compliance with clinic policies procedures and USP guidelines. This includes following up on drug shortages backorders recalls; and other bookkeeping and/or clerical duties.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a certified pharmacy technician (CPhT). Hospital sterile and non-sterile compounding or other institutional experience preferred but will consider a certified pharmacy technician with experience in a community pharmacy setting or experience in other medical environment. The Clinic will provide support for the cost of the re-certification and maintaining the annual continuing education requirements.
Must be able to multi-task and remain organized. Must have knowledge of medical terminology; computer experience using e-mail Excel and Word. Must have good written and verbal communication skills; courteous; friendly; diplomatic and tactful; ability to maintain information in a confidential manner; ability to use basic office equipment. Must be able to communicate clearly in person as well as over the phone.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability move traverse position self remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift/carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; manual dexterity; mobility and adequate visual acuity to read small numbers and letters.
