Job Description: BNL Assistant Varsity Softball Coach

Position Overview:

BNL High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Varsity Softball Coach to support the Head Varsity Softball Coach in leading and developing the Varsity Softball program. The Assistant Coach will play an important role in player development practice support and fostering a positive team culture. This position works closely with the Head Coach and reports directly to the Athletic Director.

Responsibilities:

Coaching Support

• Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting softball practices
• Support skill development strategy and game fundamentals
• Provide instruction on softball techniques rules and strategies
  
  

Game Preparation

• Assist with opponent analysis and game planning
• Support in-game coaching during contests and tournaments
  
  

Player Development

• Provide individualized coaching and constructive feedback
• Support the development of softball skills mental toughness and game understanding
  
  

Attendance

• Attend team practices games tournaments and related events
• Availability may include evenings and weekends
  
  

Team Culture

• Promote sportsmanship teamwork discipline and respect
• Foster a positive inclusive and supportive team environment
  
  

Team Management

• Assist with team events fundraisers and community engagement activities
  
  

Academic Monitoring

• Support the Head Coach in monitoring academic progress and student well-being

• Reinforce the importance of academic and athletic balance
  
  

Compliance

• Assist in ensuring compliance with school district and IHSAA policies

• Support athlete conduct safety and eligibility standards
  
  

Logistics

• Assist with equipment management and practice setup
• Support game-day logistics and other assigned duties

Qualifications:

• Previous experience playing softball preferably at a competitive level
• Coaching experience preferred but not required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Positive dependable and team-oriented approach
• Ability to motivate and support student-athletes of varying skill levels
• Commitment to inclusivity and athlete development
  
  

Availability:

• After-school hours
• Evenings and weekends as required for practices and competitions
  
  

Requirements:

• Valid coaching certifications or willingness to obtain required certifications
• Successful completion of background checks and required clearances
• Adherence to all school and district guidelines and procedures
