The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine in partnership with Childrens of Alabama invites applications for the position of Division Director of Pediatric Neurology . This is an exceptional leadership opportunity for a visionary and collaborative physician to shape the future of pediatric neurology in a premier academic institution in which neuroscience is a priority research focus. You will practice in a large free-standing childrens hospital which is the sole provider of many quaternary services for the state. As Division Director you will lead an accomplished and cohesive team with wide expertise dedicated to clinical excellence innovative research and outstanding education. You will have the opportunity to elevate every facet of the divisions workexpanding subspecialty programs fostering high-impact research and mentoring and sponsoring talented faculty. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership : Guide the clinical educational and research missions of the division in alignment with departmental and institutional goals. Career development : Serve as a mentor sponsor and role model to faculty fellows residents and students. Clinical Excellence : Oversee the delivery of high-quality evidence-based neurological care. Advance programs that support interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered innovation. Educational Leadership : Oversee excellent fellowship and resident training programs ensuring a dynamic learning environment that meets accreditation standards and fosters continuous professional development. Research Advancement : Promote a culture of discovery by supporting faculty research identifying funding opportunities and encouraging collaborative and translational initiatives. Administrative Oversight : Manage the divisions budget personnel and strategic planning. Ensure the efficient use of resources and the highest standards of patient safety and quality improvement. Qualifications MD DO or equivalent medical degree with board certification in Pediatric Neurology. A national reputation for excellence in clinical care research and/or medical education. Demonstrated success in faculty mentorship team leadership and program development. Proven ability to foster collaboration across departments and disciplines. A strong scholarship record including peer-reviewed publications and external funding is highly desirable. Leadership experience in an academic or healthcare setting is preferred.
