DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Unit Supervisor of Anatomical Pathology the Subsection Supervisor of Immunopathology oversees Immunopathology operations by providing work direction and clinical supervision to staff in the sub-section and carries out related administrative duties for the sub-section. Performs analytical laboratory procedures such as collecting preparing processing and testing laboratory specimens.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Successful completion of a recognized diploma program in Medical Laboratory Technology. Certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS). Minimum of three years experience in Immunopathology testing including one year in a supervisory capacity.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal effectively with and establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients co-workers medical staff and other hospital staff.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with associated test procedures and laboratory equipment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of automated Immunopathology testing.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in order to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of computer systems related to Laboratory.
- Ability to operate related Laboratory equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
