Job Summary
This posting is for one temporary full-time position up to 18 months
The Supervisor of Receivables and Revenue is a key member of the treasury group responsible for leadership proficiency and stewardship in treasury accounting. Supporting the Manager of Treasury Services this position displays leadership and analytical skills that ensures the integrity and reliability of the financial information pertaining to receivables employee expenses property taxes and the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP). This position provides in-depth financial analysis reporting and internal control expertise aiding in strategic planning and execution of comprehensive treasury services for Strathcona County ensuring reporting complies with Public Sector Accounting Standards and the Municipal Government Act.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional financial accounting reporting and complex analysis to support the Manager of Treasury Services maintaining subject matter expertise as it applies to related municipal treasury activities
- Provide stewardship as it relates to the planning and delivery of comprehensive accounts receivable employee expenses property tax and CEIP
- Supervise the Receivables and Revenue team providing support and guidance to day-to-day tasks to achieve short and long-term goals striving to develop solutions that build efficiency and improve the teams effectiveness
- Provide accounting expertise to support to the organizations receivable and revenue operations including processing billings collections employee expenses and corporate payment activities
- Leads the analysis and maintenance of the receivable general ledger accounts including expenses reconciliations investigations month-end and year-end activities
- Provide leadership to ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounting efficiency of resources and high level of customer service
- Participate in safeguarding the organizations financial health and supporting cash flow management by ensuring that all financial obligations are met in a timely and professional manner
- Promote excellent customer service and provide sound advice direction and assistance with a high degree of emotional intelligence
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of a related degree with three years of experience or a related diploma with five years of experience
- Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation complete or in progress is an asset
- Experience in a municipal government environmentis considered an asset
- Sound knowledge of legislation and public sector practices including Public Sector Accounting Standards and Municipal Government Act and understanding of treasury functions
- Experience and knowledge of accounting principles financial statement reporting financing principles and audit standards and internal controls
- Supervisory experience providing guidance to day-to-day activities for team effectiveness
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills including the ability to analyze a variety of inputs and risks to solve problems and provide recommendations aligned to the Countys strategic plans
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills including the ability to develop and maintain effective customer service relations with a wide range of external and internal business partners within a political setting
- Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with computerized integrated accounting software packages
