Job Description
The Department of Dermatology University of Alabama at Birmingham invites applications for tenured tenure earning and non-tenure earning faculty positions in General/Medical Dermatology. Academic rank will reflect the qualifications of the successful applicant. The candidate should have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. Applicants should be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Dermatology and be able to obtain an Alabama medical license. Clinical responsibilities will include provision of outpatient clinic services inpatient consultations and supervision of residents and medical students. Candidates must have an Alabama medical license and DEA prior to appointment. The Department of Dermatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham stands proudly among the nations leaders in the field. UAB Dermatology offers a wide range of advanced techniques for the diagnosis management and treatment of disorders of the skin hair nails and adjacent mucous membranes. Individual faculty members maintain areas of specialty interest and strive for new discovery in these areas. Our research program teams together clinicians laboratory scientists and physician scientists to advance our understanding and treatment potential for the field of dermatology. UAB Medicine is the third-largest public academic medical center in the country with more than 1900 beds and almost 18000 employees. UAB Hospital is the centerpiece of the UAB Health System and is the teaching hospital for the UAB School of Medicine. Situated among major research centers and clinics UAB Hospital provides patients with a complete range of primary and specialty care services as well as the most up-to-date treatments and innovations in health addition to UAB Hospital UAB Medicine includes The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital UAB Callahan Eye Hospital as well as several primary and specialty care clinics a dozen member and affiliate hospitals within Alabama more than 10 cancer associates in the Southeast and the Viva Health HMO . Recently UAB expanded further by acquiring five hospitals from the Ascension St. Vincents Health System.
