The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Sales Engineer to support our sales team in delivering technical expertise throughout the sales cycle. This role bridges the gap between business needs and technical solutions helping utility customers understand how our software can address operational challenges improve performance and meet regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical acumen with excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of utility operations and enterprise software systems.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Support & Solution Design
Partner with Account Executives to support new business and expansion opportunities.
Lead technical discovery sessions to understand customer workflows systems and operational challenges.
Translate customer requirements into tailored solution architectures and implementation approaches.
Respond to technical questions during the sales process.
Product Demonstrations & Proof of Value
Deliver compelling product demonstrations tailored to electric gas water or wastewater utility audiences.
Develop customized demo environments and proof-of-concept solutions when needed.
Articulate integration strategies with existing utility systems (e.g. GIS SCADA CIS ERP AMI OMS EAM).
RFP & Proposal Support
Contribute to RFP/RFI responses including technical documentation and architecture diagrams.
Assist with security questionnaires and technical compliance documentation.
Support pricing discussions by validating scope and technical feasibility.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Product Engineering and Implementation teams to provide customer feedback.
Support smooth handoffs from sales to implementation teams.
Contribute to sales enablement materials and internal knowledge sharing.
Industry Expertise
Stay informed on trends impacting utilities including grid modernization regulatory changes asset management standards cybersecurity and digital transformation initiatives.
Represent the company at industry events trade shows and conferences.
