Diverse Learning Teacher
Temporary Full Time 1.0 FTE

Position: GSACRD is seeking a diverse learning teacher to work across schools in St. Albert Morinville and Legal. The successful candidate will work with a small group of students for about 4-6 weeks then move to another group in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team the school and Student Support Services.
Duties to commence : Immediately to June 29 2026.
Qualifications & Duties:
- Committed to being a model and witness to Christ-centered education values and beliefs.
- Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations Métis and Inuit for the benefit of all students and support the Divisions goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation.
- Possess a Bachelor of Education and valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
- College Certificate in Catholic Education is considered an asset.
- Major or Minor in Special Education is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams class and school teams to incorporate assessment recommendations.
- Ability to plan collaboratively and co-teach for complex students.
- Create a safe predictable and inclusive classroom environment that supports emotional regulation and a sense of belonging.
- Support the development of social-emotional skills including emotional identification self - regulation coping strategies life skills programming and problem-solving.
- Use visual supports modelling social narratives and consistent routines to support understanding of expectations and boundaries.
- Differentiate instruction to support communication social engagement and academic access.
- Respond to behaviour as communication using calm respectful and consistent responses.
- Experience/training in differentiating Instruction to accommodate instruction and programming for students with diverse needs.
- Experience with the implementation of Individual Program Plans.
- Collaborate with families multidisciplinary team members educational assistants and Student Support Services to implement monitor and adjust the students IPP.
- Collect observational data to inform instruction and behaviour supports while maintaining student dignity.
- Experience/training in the use of Google Classroom.
- Committed to working as a collaborative team member with a vibrant school team.
- A willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm.
- Committed to working within departmental professional learning communities.
