Job Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for leading day to day operations of a 24/7 manufacturing location to drive continuous improvement in the areas of safety quality productivity and customer satisfaction. The Production Manager plays a critical role in financial performance labor forecasting payroll management and the development of Production Supervisors and hourly teams.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participates in the sites safety and quality management programs.
- Prepares and reviews any and all production safety and quality reports. Develops action plans with team members as needed for problem resolution.
- Establishes and implements improvements for cost reduction quality assurance and production.
- Directs and assists with developmental or experimental activities.
- Works with employees to get their input for problem resolution to production issues/efficiencies utilizing problem-solving tools and skills as needed.
- Reviewing Key Performance Indicators (Daily Weekly and Monthly) to ensure facility is on track to meet overall departmental objectives.
- Meets with Planning and Operations team members to discuss production schedules and changes in the schedule that are needed. Works with supervision to ensure vacancies are covered for vacations or any absences related to fulfilling production schedule requirements.
- Implements proactive and corrective maintenance practices relating all production equipment. This includes scheduling any production line maintenance (major or minor) as needed for location.
- Develops and ensures sites have an effective preventative maintenance program and they are adhering to it.
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with EHS policies and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards work instructions and regulatory requirements.
- Support investigations and corrective actions related to safety quality and operational issues.
- Adjust labor plans proactively to address demand changes absenteeism and operational constraints.
- Ensure effective overtime management and proper shift coverage including weekends and holiday.
- Ensures plants are meeting the cycle time requirements to meet throughput objectives.
- Ensures employees are properly trained in all aspects of their jobs to include safety quality and production.
- Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to attain operational objectives.
- Directly manage Production Supervisors and ensure consistent leadership across all shifts.
- Coach and develop supervisors to drive accountability performance and engagement.
- Partner with Human Resources on hiring onboarding performance management and employee relations.
- Promote a positive disciplined and results-driven culture on the production floor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
This position requires a minimum 5 years experience in a related position in the blow molding industry with a preferred background in packaging manufacturing. BS degree in Manufacturing Technology (or equivalent industry experience) preferred. The position requires progressive knowledge of the blow molding process molding equipment and mold tooling.
