This full-time opportunity is in the Microbiology Department of Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL) in Austin Texas. We are seeking an Microbiology Technologist to work with the Bacteriology team on first shift (8:00 AM 4:00 PM) Sunday-Thursday.

In This Role You Will:

• Perform high-complexity microbiological testing on clinical specimens such as urine blood sputum wounds and body fluids

• Read and interpret culture media distinguishing clinically significant pathogens from contaminants or normal flora

• Identify microorganisms using manual and automated biochemical methodologies

• Perform antibiotic susceptibility testing to determine appropriate treatment options

• Analyze review and report microbiology test results ensuring timely communication of critical findings

• Recognize and troubleshoot issues or unexpected results implementing corrective actions effectively

• Comply with laboratory safety protocols quality control standards and regulatory guidelines

What Were Looking For:

• Bachelor degree or higher in a biological medical or laboratory science

• Proficiency in operating general laboratory equipment including telephones computers automated analyzers centrifuges microscopes manual and automated pipettes and audible alarms

• Strong speaking reading writing and analytical skills

• A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies with enthusiasm for continuous professional development

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) in Microbiology or Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent)

• 1 years of experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory

• Clinical laboratory training or experience in high-complexity testing
