The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for improving the production flow efficiency quality and cost performance of the wheelchair-accessible vehicle conversions we produce and building internal capability in structured problem-solving and continuous improvement practices while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
What youll do:
- Analyze and improve manufacturing processes workflow equipment utilization and plant layout to enhance overall efficiency and throughput.
- Develop and maintain clear standardized work instructions and process documentation to ensure repeatability and consistency.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives including Kaizen activities and value stream mapping to identify and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Train and coach supervisors and production team members on Lean principles structured problem-solving and continuous improvement practices.
- Support quality and process validation efforts to ensure reliable and compliant manufacturing operations.
- Utilize data and performance metrics to identify trends recommend improvements and support informed decision-making.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production quality maintenance and leadership to execute improvement priorities.
- Assist other areas as needed.
What youll need:
- Bachelors degree in manufacturing engineering systems engineering industrial engineering or mechanical engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant manufacturing engineering or process improvement role.
- Experience using CAD or CAM software preferred.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement principles.
- Experience with workflow analysis time studies and process optimization.
- Ability to lead improvement initiatives and influence teams in a production environment.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times.
