Sentara Medical Group has a Full-time day position available for anAcute Care Advanced Practice Providerto join theHospital Medicineteam atSentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk VA.

Schedule: 12 -hour Day shifts

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Hospital Medicine team as a Day -Shift Advanced Practice Provider. The APP will provide high-quality inpatient care overnight including admissions cross-coverage and collaboration with the nocturnist team.
New graduates with a strong interest in hospital medicine are encouraged to apply and will be supported through a structured onboarding and training program.

Responsibilities

• Perform admissions from the ED and direct transfers including history physical exam assessment and initial management plans
• Provide cross-coverage for hospitalized patients with timely evaluation of clinical changes
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and perform therapeutic interventions within scope
• Communicate effectively with nocturnist physicians nursing staff and ancillary teams
• Complete thorough and timely documentation in the electronic health record
• Participating in safe and effective handoffs at shift transitions
• Support quality safety and patient experience initiatives
• Engage in ongoing professional development and learning activities
• Rounding on low acuity patients OBS and Inpatients under Physician supervision

• Comprehensive orientation with shadowing supervised shifts and graduated autonomy
• Access to clinical learning modules focused on common inpatient conditions (e.g. sepsis heart failure COPD diabetes anticoagulation AKI chest pain)
• Regular case reviews and direct feedback from experienced hospitalists
• Ongoing support for continuous learning and professional growth including CME opportunities

• Day shifts (12 hours)
• Full-Time Day shifts
• Optional additional shifts as available
