Basic Job Functions:
- Set up operate and adjust press brake machinery to bend form or straighten metal materials according to specifications.
- Interpret and work from blueprints drawings work orders and production instructions.
- Select proper tooling dies punches and back gauges based on job requirements.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers tape measures protractors and other precision tools to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Perform machine adjustments to maintain correct part dimensions and ensure consistent production output.
- Monitor machine operation and identify issues related to material tooling or equipment performance.
- Safely load and unload materials following proper handling procedures.
- Maintain equipment by performing routine cleaning minor maintenance and reporting needed repairs.
- Keep work area cleaned and organized following Nucor safety and housekeeping standards.
- Support other fabrication or production departments as needed based on workflow.
- Adhere to all safety policies ensuring safe operation of machinery and equipment at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience operating a press brake or similar metal fabrication equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production drawings
- Advanced understanding of measurements fractions and basic math
- Experience using hand tools and power tools
- Ability to use precision measurement instruments such as calipers tape measures and protractors
- Ability to stand bend reach and lift for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working within a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of 5S Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
- Ability to read and use precise measurement tools to tight tolerances
Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
