Director of Operations Satellite Suites
The Director of Operations of Satellite Suites is responsible for the day-to-day operational performance of the Suites business unit. This role leads manufacturing execution and coordinates materials facilities and supporting functions to ensure safe consistent production that meets quality delivery and cost expectations.
Reporting to the General Manager of the division the Director of Operations translates divisional objectives into executable operational plans and leads through both direct-report leaders and strong cross-functional partnerships. Success in this role depends on the ability to influence align and drive execution across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing and Operational Execution
  • Lead daily manufacturing operations to achieve safety quality delivery and efficiency targets.
  • Translate divisional objectives into clear operational priorities for the plant.
  • Develop and execute labor plans aligned with forecasted demand and capacity.
  • Ensure routings work instructions and operational data accurately reflect current production requirements.
  • Drive consistent application of Lean and 6S principles to improve execution and workplace organization.
  • Ensure facilities equipment and tooling are maintained and capable of supporting production needs.

Cost and Financial Execution
  • Execute the operating plan in alignment with divisional financial objectives.
  • Partner with Plant Controller to manage labor efficiency overhead absorption and inventory performance.
  • Maintain accurate overhead collection and make adjustments based on production changes.
  • Identify and lead operational improvements that reduce cost and improve throughput.

Materials Inventory and Cross-Functional Alignment
  • Own material flow and inventory execution in support of production needs.
  • Develop and execute an annual inventory plan aligned with production requirements.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through strong systems controls cycle counting and physical inventories.
  • Work closely with Purchasing Materials Work Flow Quality and other partners to ensure material availability data accuracy and timely issue resolution.
  • Ensure raw materials are received stored and delivered safely and in accordance with established processes.

Planning Communication and Coordination
  • Participate in S&OP providing clear operational input on capacity labor and execution risks.
  • Execute production schedules aligned with agreed demand plans.
  • Communicate constraints risks and tradeoffs clearly and promptly to the Vice President and key partners.
  • Align cross-functional resources to support operational priorities and timelines.

Safety Quality and Leadership
  • Champion a strong safety culture and hold leaders accountable for safe work practices.
  • Ensure quality systems are followed and issues are addressed through root cause and corrective action.
  • Lead and develop plant leadership setting clear expectations and reinforcing accountability.
  • Build leadership capability by developing entry-level leaders into future supervisors and managers.
  • Reinforce Satellites Circle of Culture through consistent leadership behavior.
Reporting Structure
The Director of Operations directly leads plant-level operational leaders and works closely with functional partners who support the business through shared or matrixed structures. The role is accountable for day-to-day execution and results achieved through collaboration influence and clear communication.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Strong manufacturing leadership experience with accountability for operational performance.
  • Demonstrated success leading through influence and cross-functional alignment.
  • Experience working in matrixed or shared-services environments preferred.
Skills and Capabilities
  • Hands-on operational leadership with strong follow-through
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing systems labor planning and materials flow
  • Practical financial acumen related to labor overhead and inventory
  • Clear direct communicator who escalates appropriately
  • Ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • High personal accountability and ethical standards
Work Environment
This role requires regular presence in a manufacturing environment and the ability to manage multiple priorities frequent interruptions and time-sensitive operational decisions.

Compensation:
The pay range listed is the base pay range that Satellite Shelters inc/Satellite Industries Inc. reasonably expects to pay someone for this position (compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors including but not limited to a candidates qualifications skills competencies experience location and end client requirements).
