Job Summary
Responsibilities:Incumbents will rotate through the different areas of the plant to gain a working knowledge of those areas of the plant.
Assist with operational and mechanical activities to maximize plant availability and reliability
Operate and monitor plant equipment and systems locally and remotely from the Control Room
Perform regular equipment rounds taking critical readings from instruments and reports abnormal conditions to the appropriate manager
Utilize plant informational systems to provide timely troubleshooting and repair of operational abnormalities
Assist with mechanical maintenance tasks routine Preventative Maintenance and inspections and troubleshooting as assigned
Assist in the development of standard operational procedures as assigned
Adherence to safe working practices and identify hazards following through on corrective action in conjunction with Management
Support vendor relationships around plant production schedules
Complete required plant training
Assist with unloading handling and transferring of bulk chemicals de-mineralized water trailers and taking of samples for analysis and testing
Maintain plant housekeeping and security
Perform other projects as assigned
Requirements:
High School diploma trade school military service or technical school training
Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
Possess the ability to work independently and in a fast paced environment
Knowledge of CCGT power plants or equivalent education will be considered
Mechanical and trouble shooting skills
Effective communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours weekday shift vacancies support plant start-ups be on call and accept call-outs and over time work on short notice
Intermediate user PC skills
General knowledge of safety and environmental regulation
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Interface with engineering staff operations & maintenance groups and other Luminant personnel to ensure consistent practical and effective engineering solutions.
EIT (Engineer in Training) will rotate through the different areas of the plant to gain a working knowledge of those areas of the include but are not limited to Safety Operations Maintenance Instrumentation & Control Reliability and Chemical / Environmental
Will be assigned various engineering projects.
Comply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
Possess the ability to work independently and in a fast paced environment
All other duties as assigned
Education Experience & Skill Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. Students sponsored through Optical Practical Training (OPT) or Curricular Practical Training (CPT) areNOTeligible for this internship.
Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year institution of higher education and pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Masters Degree in one of our desired engineering disciplines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel Word PowerPoint) Access desired
Proficient in AutoCAD or similar systems
Excellent verbal & written communication skills; presentation skills desired
Official transcripts must be received from your school prior to start date
Must be in good academic standing with your school
