The Fitness Assistant is a part-time 3-10 hour per week staff member at MICA Fitness. This position is responsible for assisting with the daily operational needs and services of the fitness center. This position reports directly to the Health Promotions Educator/Fitness Center Manager with guidance from the Wellness Coordinators.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled at MICA as a student
Maintain good disciplinary and academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00
Agree to participate in all training sessions including CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
Demonstrated interest in fitness and recreational activities
Demonstrated customer service/communication abilities
Demonstrate knowledge related to Fitness Health and Wellness
A strong desire to work with other students
Responsibilities
Acts as a first responder if and when an injury/incident occurs in MICA Fitness
Greets all individuals entering the facility with a positive attitude checking for membership eligibility
Communicates with and teaches members about use of all exercise equipment
Cleans and maintains fitness equipment and facility as outlined in cleaning checklist
Inputs member data into security software and files paperwork accordingly
Supports and enforces all MICA Fitness policies and procedures
Participates in all staff training and social activities
Reviews all informative documents digital or print provided
Demonstrates exemplary customer service skills; wears staff shirt and name tag
Performs other duties as assigned
Terms of Employment
The Fitness Assistant will be expected to work 3-15 hours per week depending on their availability work study award and scheduling needs
Compensation $15/hr
The Fitness Assistant position is based on the academic year; employment start and end dates will coincide with the beginning of Fall and end of Spring.
