Job Description

JOB TITLE: Laboratory Coordinator

SUMMARY: Oil and Petroleum Operations Coordinators receive record and distribute work orders to lab employees based on customers requests for service by performing the following duties; Makes decisions on lab qualification appropriate to nature of assignment and staff levels required to cover the assignment based upon job type customer requirements and on the job experience. Ensures lab personnel is available to meet all required aspects of the assignment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive orders from specialized clients written and/or verbal.
  • Create and maintain job files.
  • Prepare and issue job orders and lab instructions.
  • Ensure all required information is distributed and is understood by lab personnel.
  • Keeps all parties fully informed as required during the course of the assignment.
  • Report any irregularities to management.
  • Represent Inspectorate by appearance and conduct.
  • Behaves ethically at all times.
  • Fill in for laboratory when the need arises.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

COORDINATION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure full and adequate coverage of all laboratory assignments.
  • Ensure laboratory personnel are adequately staffed to complete assignments including safety equipment training and correct and calibrated lab equipment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the normal knowledge skill and/or ability levels required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education development certificate (GED). Knowledge of company HS&E procedures and associated governmental regulations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to groups of customers or employees. Must demonstrate good communication skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to understand and plan for the effective performance of work assignments and prepare documented action plans and instructions in written oral and/or diagrammatic form. Ability to deal rapidly and effectively with problems involving many variables in standardized situations. Ability to make independent decisions and communicate same to staff senior management and customers

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS: Valid drivers license required.
