Job Title: Senior Counsel - Mexico

Role Summary

The Senior Counsel for Mexico provides strategic and practical legal guidance across the organizations operations in the designated region. This role partners closely with regional business leadership and cross-functional teams to identify manage and mitigate legal risk while enabling the business to achieve its objectives. The Senior Counsel will be a trusted legal advisor to regional business leadership on matters such as compliance contracts commercial transactions intellectual property (clearance prosecution and registration) labor & employment regional litigation and other issues serving as a key member of the regional leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Provide proactive legal guidance to the regional leadership team on a broad range of legal matters.

Draft review and negotiate in region commercial contracts vendor agreements partnership arrangements and other transactional documents.

Ensure compliance with regional laws and regulations including employment data privacy intellectual property and corporate governance requirements in partnership with global functional Legal team members.

Support risk management initiatives and provide solutions to mitigate potential exposures.

Advise on regional employment and labor law matters in partnership with HR and global employment labor & counsel including employee relations issues investigations policies and disputes.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve legal issues efficiently.

Monitor and interpret regulatory changes in the region and communicate their impact to the business.

Support corporate initiatives including joint ventures expansions and local operational projects from a regional legal perspective.

Serve as the regional liaison to the global legal team escalating matters as needed to the Chief Legal Officer and/or Deputy GC(s) as appropriate.

Manage relationships with external counsel for specialized or complex matters.

Required Skills Experience and Education

Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal qualification; admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction(s).

Minimum of 710 years of legal experience with a strong track record in commercial corporate or employment law.

Demonstrated ability to provide pragmatic business-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced environment.

Experience drafting and negotiating contracts and agreements.

Knowledge of regional regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.

Strong analytical problem-solving and risk management skills.

Excellent communication interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities.

High ethical standards discretion and ability to handle sensitive matters.

Desired Skills Experience and Education

Prior in-house legal experience supporting a multinational organization.

Experience with cross-border transactions and collaboration with global legal teams.

Familiarity with intellectual property data privacy or industry-specific regulations.

Advanced certifications in corporate compliance governance or related fields.

Multilingual capabilities relevant to the region.

Demonstrated ability to work independently within a matrixed global environment and take ownership of legal matters within the region
