Dispensary Manager

Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated dispensary manager to join Long Stratton Medical Partnership on a full-time permanent basis. This role offers the chance to work within a well-established dispensing practice supporting safe effective medicines supply and contributing to high-quality patient care.
Main responsibilities will include;
- Lead and supervise the dispensing process to ensure prescriptions are dispensed accurately safely and in line with current SOPs and professional guidance.
- Provide visible leadership within the dispensary; lead by example promote the Practice vision and values and encourage cross-departmental teamwork.
- Manage and coordinate dispensary rotas to ensure safe staffing and efficient service delivery including arranging cover for annual leave/sickness and managing workload peaks.
- Support recruitment induction and ongoing performance management for dispensary staff in line with practice HR policies including participation in appraisals and the use of records of conversation where needed.
- Undertake or organise checking of colleagues dispensing as required and escalate any concerns to the authorising clinician or dispensing/prescribing lead GP.
- Ensure that all dispensed medicines/appliances are checked against the prescription including dose quantity directions contraindications and labelling; where there is doubt liaise with the duty/authorising prescriber before supply.
- Support and coordinate dispensary participation in quality schemes and audits (e.g. DSQS and prescribing/dispensing quality improvement activity) and maintain evidence as required.
- Ensure the secure receipt storage handling and issuing of controlled drugs (where applicable) in line with SOPs; maintain registers and undertake periodic stock checks/audits.
- Ensure medicines are stored securely and appropriately including segregation expiry date control and adherence to manufacturers storage requirements.

About the Candidate
- You will have at least a Diploma Level 2 Dispensary - this is essential to be considered for the vacancy.
- Good standard of education
- Significant dispensary experience
- Experience supervising mentoring or coordinating colleagues including delegation and rota coordination
- Excellent clinical and medication knowledge
- Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting
- Excellent communication skills
About Us
Long Stratton Medical Partnership is a busy forward-looking GP practice based in Long Stratton South Norfolk approximately 10 miles from Norwich. We provide services to around 11500 patients and are rated Good by the CQC. The Partnership operates from our main site and a branch surgery in Newton Flotman. We are also a dispensing practice with a dispensing list of approximately 5500 patients.
We use SystmOne and a cloud-based telephony system integrated with our clinical system to support efficient workflows and a responsive patient service.
Service development
The Practice has recently completed a significant site expansion including a new wing with seven additional clinical addition planned local housing growth is expected to increase our patient population by a further patients over time. This is an excellent time to join the Partnership as we continue to strengthen services capacity and our workforce.
Our team
The clinical team is led by five GP Partners and includes permanent salaried GPs an Emergency Care Practitioner an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Clinical Pharmacists and a Pharmacy Technician as well as Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants. The clinical workforce is supported by experienced reception administrative dispensary and Practice management teams working together to deliver safe and effective care.
