PRIMARY FUNCTION

Provides technical assistance leadership and education to all sites and administrative locations with respect to computer systems and networks.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited educational facility with a program of study in technology including topics of networks computer languages and hardware desired. A minimum of fifty classroom hours of computer training or equivalent work experience is required. Comptia A or other applicable certifications desired
  • A minimum of three or more years of successful experience in computer-related positions.
  • Familiarity with PC and Macintosh platforms. Proficiency in the use of a variety of office machines including computers with experience in Microsoft Office Google Workspace for Education and other applications.
  • Familiar with Chromebook setup and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in spoken and written communication to express and/or exchange ideas.
  • Emotionally mature objective and sensitive to people and their concerns. Able to handle responsibility work independently and maintain collaborative working relationships with students families staff coworkers and community agencies.
  • Familiarity with racial equity and inclusion frameworks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS

  • Provides assistance to all sites in determining appropriate hardware and wiring decisions for continued program development.
  • Provides assistance to all sites experiencing technology-related problems.
  • Evaluates tests and recommends appropriate technology for use in the educational environment.
  • Installs configures and tests computers and network hardware and software in a networked environment.
  • Monitors new products and software upgrades applicable to the division.
  • Develops troubleshooting guidelines for all sites in coordination with Elementary Technology Specialists.
  • Serves as User Directory Management administrator for site networks (in addition to site administrators if appropriate). Maintains Google accounts for sites assigned.
  • Keeps documentation on hardware and networks within the system for reference.
  • Coordinates and supervises all vendors providing services to sites in the division.
  • Systematically evaluates status of the division software; installs upgrades and updates as needed.
  • Assists in the implementation of the HCPS technology plan;
  • Keeps informed on the latest technologies practices and programs in the IT field;
  • Assumes responsibility for professional growth and keeps materials supplies and skills up-to-date;
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities;
  • Follows appropriate safety procedures and properly maintains equipment;
  • Responds to telephone email and in-person requests inquiries and questions in a professional polite and responsive manner;
  • Demonstrates good attendance and punctuality;
  • Attends all required meetings;
  • Maintains confidentiality in all matters;

  • Complies with and supports school division policies regulations and procedures;

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology or Network Supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

Light work lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. Regular travel throughout the school and effectively interact with students staff and community members. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities; and subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Regular contact with staff members is required. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
