Detroit Country Day School is a private independent co-educational non-denominational preschool through grade 12 college preparatory school focused on a well-rounded liberal arts education. Position Summary

Detroit Country Day School is seeking substitute teachers for our Middle School. The ideal applicant should have experience and enjoy working with students ranging from grades 4-8. Substitute Teachers provide classroom instruction and support in the classroom teachers absence. The positions are on-call working half or full workdays. The hours of work are between 7:45 a.m. 3:30 p.m.

Essential Duties

Deliver lesson plans and activities provided by classroom teachers
Foster a positive inclusive and engaging learning environment
Responsible for the health and safety of assigned students
Implement school emergency procedures as necessary
Collaborate with faculty students parents and administrators as appropriate
Perform other assigned teacher duties as needed

Qualifications

Bachelors degree required.
A minimum of 1-3 years of experience preferred
Flexible and willing to adapt to change
Strong classroom management skills
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Collaborative team player
Exceptional judgement and ability to maintain confidentiality

Physical Requirements

Regular standing and walking for extended periods of time
Frequent bending or stooping
