Job Description Summary
The construction Scientist will be responsible for hands-on lab work and completion of product application testing in the CASE and related market areas. A key focus of this position will be applying experience in applications for adhesives sealants construction and related products and their market applications. The project work will involve evaluating Elementis products in the various formulations for the purposes of new product development generation of market sales data and providing test data towards customers product application issues and needs.Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
* Hands-on lab work in the preparation of formulations and testing of adhesives sealants rheological intermediate gels and optionally cementitious materials.
* Evaluation of the physical properties of the liquid formulations the bulk cured materials and substrate bonded materials for some projects.
* Evaluate the quality and application performance of new product candidates as part of the new product development process.
* Investigate troublesome production Lots of existing products for quality and performance issues.
* Participate as needed in developing performance data of products to assist sales and marketing efforts.
* Support the site and shipment of chemicals and hazardous materials as needed- Training to be provided
* Maintaining a record of all lab project work (lab notebook or electronic notebook compiling MS Word completion project reports summarizing lab results monthly reports).
* Maintaining a safe working environment in the lab and attending safety training sessions.
* Conducting assigned projects and communicating results to the supervisor.
* Maintaining lab equipment replacing consumables and chemicals. As needed monitor test methods specifications and processes to ensure compliance and applicability.
* Ensure that the projects status and needs are communicated with the manager.
Additional Job Description
Education & Skills:
* Preferred: Bachelors degree in Chemistry Polymer Chemistry Coatings Chemical Engineering or other related sciences (graduates of coatings related programs are preferred).
* 3-15 yrs experience in CASE & construction area formula preparation and evaluation experience.
* Experience with adhesives sealants mortars grouts cement concrete and composites of various chemistries will be helpful.
* Possess excellent scientific analytical and reasoning skills.
* Effective in communication skills.
* Works well in a team environment and does mentoring of coworkers.
* Capable with Office 365 (Word PowerPoint Excel Teams Outlook). Design Expert (experimental design/DOE) experience would be a plus.
* Proactive highly enthusiastic and energetic.
