Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Search Engineer to join Search & Recommendation group. The Team provides various search recommendation and AI agent functions that support a suite of rapidly growing global this role you will be responsible for designing and developing mission-critical systems that serve as the backbone for high-expertise AI applications.

As a Senior Engineer you will solve complex challenges to provide users with a premier search experience particularly as the importance of search functionality grows in expanding the capabilities of Large Language Model applications.

Responsibilities

Feature Definition: Collaborate with Product Managers to define search recommendation and AI agent functions that maximize value for the end user.
Strategic Execution: Drive concrete and actionable development plans toward successful delivery.
System Architecture: Assist team members in designing sustainable high-performance and maintainable software systems.
Core Development: Design develop and deliver a wide range of search/recommendation functions and APIs.
Optimization: Identify and resolve performance and accuracy bottlenecks in LLM-integrated applications ensuring seamless connectivity with search/recommendation features.
Maintenance & Operations: Proactively maintain and operate various search and recommendation functions to ensure system reliability.
Continuous Improvement: Investigate challenges regarding the performance and accuracy of agent applications in production; establish quantitative evaluation metrics to drive iterative improvements.

Requirements

Must-Have Skills:

Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Mathematics or a related technical field.
Experience: 5 years of experience in search systems or general software engineering.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.
System Design: Practical experience designing reliable high-performance web backend systems.
Cloud Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (e.g. AWS GCP Azure).
Language Proficiency: Japanese communication skills (JLPT N2 or equivalent).

Preferred Experiences:

Advanced Education: Masters or Doctoral degree in a technical field.
Search Technologies: Practical experience with Apache Lucene Elasticsearch or Solr.
AI Agent Development: Practical experience building agent applications using technologies such as LangGraph Ragas or LlamaIndex.
Programming: Strong proficiency in Python or Java.
Domain Expertise: Experience in machine learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
Leadership: Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading large-scale projects (10 members).
Adaptability: A proactive attitude toward learning and incorporating new AI-driven development tools and methodologies.
Global Collaboration: High-level communication skills in both Japanese and English to work with a diverse multicultural team.
