Job Summary
Appleview Elementary is a vibrant and inclusive elementary school dedicated to nurturing creativity curiosity and confidence in every student. We believe the arts are essential to a well-rounded education and are seeking a passionate Elementary Art Teacher to inspire young artists in grades 35 starting next school year.
Position Overview
The Elementary Art Teacher will design and deliver engaging developmentally appropriate visual arts instruction aligned with state and national standards. The ideal candidate fosters a positive studio environment where creativity thrives and every student feels successful.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive 35 visual arts curriculum
- Teach and model foundational art concepts including drawing painting sculpture mixed media and art history
- Integrate cross-curricular connections with classroom teachers
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Organize student art displays and coordinate school-wide art events or showcases
- Maintain art supplies inventory and ensure a safe organized classroom
- Communicate effectively with families and staff
- Support with other needs and events around the school
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Art Education or related field
- Valid state teaching certification in Art (K12 or Elementary Art endorsement)
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate art instruction
Preferred:
- Experience teaching in an elementary setting
- Familiarity with national and state visual arts standards
- Experience integrating technology in art instruction
- Strong classroom management skills
